Shan Masood Breaks 27-Year-Old Record In South Africa

Pakistan’s Test team captain Shan Masood broke the record after 27 years. Shan Masood scored 145 runs in the follow-on innings of the Test against South Africa,

breaking the record for the highest individual score by a Pakistani batsman in a Test match on South African soil.

Previously, former Pakistani all-rounder Azhar Mahmood had scored 136 runs in a Test against South Africa in Johannesburg in 1998.

Apart from this, Shan Masood also became the first Pakistani captain to score a Test century in South Africa.

It should be noted that South Africa defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets in the Cape Town Test to sweep the two-match series.

In the match, South Africa scored 615 runs in the first innings and the Pakistani team was dismissed for 194 runs in the first innings.

After the follow-on, Pakistan scored 478 runs in the second innings to take a lead of 57 runs. In shan massod centuries Shan Masood scored a one more brilliant century in the second innings and played an innings of 145 runs, while Babar Azam and Agha Salman stood out with 81 and 48 runs.

In the Cape Town Test, the Pakistan team managed to avoid an innings defeat but could not save the match. South Africa achieved the target of 58 runs without any loss.

Shan Masood’s innings of 145 broke a 27-year-old record for the highest individual score by a Pakistani batsman in a Test match on South African soil.

Previously, Salim Malik had set the record for the highest score by a Pakistani captain on South African soil with an innings of 99 runs in January 1995.
