The 13th edition of the ICC ODI Womens Cricket World Cup 2025 will kick off in September this year. The host country of this tournament is India. However, Pakistan’s matches will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Keeping this mega women’s tournament in mind, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had announced the start time, dates and venues of the tournament this month. Now, the world cricket’s governing body has released the women cricket world cup schedule.
A total of 8 teams will participate in this year’s tournament. The top six teams in the 2022-25 ICC Women’s Championship points table have directly qualified for the World Cup. Along with hosts India, they include Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh and Pakistan were the last two teams to qualify for the World Cup in the qualifiers held in Pakistan.
As always, the Women’s ODI World Cup will be held in a round-robin league format. A total of 28 matches will be played in the first phase, where each team will get the opportunity to play 7 matches. At the end of the league phase, the top 4 teams in the table will directly advance to the semi-finals.
The World Cup matches will be held at four venues in India. These are Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Holkar Stadium in Indore, ACA Stadium in Guwahati and ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. In addition, Pakistan’s matches will be held in Sri Lanka. Their matches will be held at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
The 2025 Women’s World Cup will open with the India-Sri Lanka match in Bengaluru on September 30. The group stage will continue till October 26. After that, the first semi-final will be held in Guwahati on October 29. However, if Pakistan can reach the semi-finals, the match will be held in Colombo. The second semi-final will be held in Bengaluru the next day on October 30. After that, the tournament will close with the final in Bengaluru or Colombo on November 2. A strong female-led commentary panel has been created for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, featuring some of the biggest names and most experienced broadcasters in the game. Former World Cup winners Mel Jones, Issa Guha, Stacey-Anne King and Julia Price will lead the commentary team, joined by former captains Mithali Raj, Sana Mir and Anjum Chopra.
